Third Window Films was started in mid-2005 with the goal of expanding
the minds of UK audiences to the many different types of films from
the Far East that don't receive distribution.
In our minds, the UK market was ignoring many different genres
and styles of film that deserved to be seen, but were unable to
due to lack of distribution companies dealing with such matters.
We feel that the Far Eastern market is one of the biggest untapped
industries and that there are many gems that should be brought over
to the West, and we are here to do as such.
Adam Torel
Adam comes from a film theory background. Born in England, he moved
to the States to study film theory with a focus on films of the
Orient. After years of collecting and analysing films from all over
the Far East he put his knowledge to good use by giving lectures
on Korean and Japanese Film History at a small University in Florida.
After the 'Shiri' rush of the Korean Film Industry in 1999, he devoted
his life to seeing practically every single Korean film that came
out in order to become a top specialist in the field (which he saw
as being the newest force in International Cinema). In 2003 he returned
back to London with this new knowledge in hand and became a consultant
for various Far Eastern-related film distributors. Displeased with
the lack of substance coming into the UK market in regards to Korean
films, he started off his own company to bring as many unknown and
underrated 'gems' to the UK audience.
