Director Ryu Seung-wan
"Rookie" RYU Seung-wan made a stunning debut with his
first film <Die Bad>. His unique action shooting style surprisingly
drew box-office success to an independently-made film. They call
him the Quentin Tarantino of Korea as he created a huge following.
After learning to direct films on his own, without any formal education,
RYU Seung-wan exhibited realistic action in the city's seedy back
alleys in <Die Bad>. He was the film's director, actor and
even the choreographer of all the martial arts in the movie. A total
one-man show. He doesn't simply glorify violence, but he rather
displays action as it really is. Tenacious in-your-face action enough
to make you cringe all over. <No Blood No Tears> is RYU Seung-wan's
first feature made with professionals in Chungmuro, Korea's tinsel
town. The fact that his talent stands out exceptionally from others
has drawn a lot of attention from the start of the film's production.
